This course describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
It includes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
The course applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR or first aid, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
ARC recommends that this qualification is updated every 3 years.

What you need to study
Unique Student Identifier (USI)
A USI is required by all Australian students undertaking nationally recognised training. If you do not have a USI, please visit the USI website.

- HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid
- HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Assessments
You will be required to complete knowledge based and practical assessments, these may include:
- Question and Answers
- Presentations
- Demonstration of the application of skills
Recognition of Prior Learning
You may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer (CT) provided you have supporting evidence of any prior education and work experience.
This can either reduce your study load or shorten the duration of your course.
